Why have Border 2 advance bookings not opened fully across all centres? Fans have been anxious about the delay as the Sunny Deol starrer is all set for a solo release on January 23. Trade sources have now revealed the reason behind the hold up, and it has everything to do with Eid 2026 planning.
Sources have informed that distributor Anil Thadani is trying to club the showcasing of Border 2 with the Eid 2026 release Toxic. He has reportedly demanded at least 50 percent of shows for Toxic on Eid, which will clash with Dhurandhar 2. However, exhibitors have refused this offer.
Exhibitors Say Dhurandhar 2 Is The Hotter Film
Exhibitors have made their stance clear on the matter. They believe Dhurandhar 2 is a much hotter film and they are not willing to split the showcasing on Eid. They are ready to give complete support to Border 2, but not at the cost of missing out on the Ranveer Singh starrer sequel.
This is the reason why advances have not opened at multiple centres. Anil Thadani and his team are reportedly trying to get some sort of commitment for Toxic, whereas exhibitors have already made their decision clear about Eid 2026.
Trade Sources Ask Toxic To Avoid Dhurandhar 2 Clash
Trade sources have urged the makers to reconsider the clash strategy. According to exhibitors, both Toxic and Dhurandhar 2 are hot films, but the flavour of the season is Dhurandhar 2 and it definitely deserves a solo showcasing for its sequel.
One exhibitor explained that Toxic is a hot film and should come solo. Clashing with Dhurandhar 2 is reportedly a bad business call. Because of this clash situation in March, exhibitors feel they are being held at ransom in January itself.
Exhibitors Call For Full Fledged Border 2 Advances
Exhibitors have requested the makers to step in and open full fledged advances for Border 2. They believe clubbing Border 2 with Toxic is unfair as both are different films from different banners.
As things stand, Border 2‘s advance booking has opened only at select properties, roughly around 1500 screens. Multiple centres are still awaiting a full rollout. Trade insiders say the situation is expected to clarify soon, but exhibitors remain firm that they will not sign any future showcase commitments that impact their Eid 2026 plans.
