Farhan Akhtar returned to the big screen after a gap of six years, following his 2019 film The Sky is Pink, which also starred Priyanka Chopra. 120 Bahadur was one of the much-anticipated films of the year, which hit the screens on November 21. Based on the Battle of Rezang La in 1962, the war drama had a dull start at the box office.
120 Bahadur Drops On Monday
Film opened to poor numbers all over. Film’s preview shows were held from Tuesday but it failed to generate any kind of buzz. Film got glowing reviews but it didn’t translate into numbers. Film collected poor 2.25 crore number on day one and it needed massive jump over the weekend for any kind of respectability at box office. And film did manage some sort of number on day two with 80% jump.
Film added 4 crore net each on day two and day three. It crossed 10.25 crore net over weekend which was still below par but gives hope for good hold on weekdays. Film expected to hold on Monday around Friday levels but it failed to do so. It collected 1.25 crore and now writing is on the wall.
Film has 4 day total of 11.50 crore net and it will finish with 15-16 crore week one and under 18 crore lifetime. Full failed to recover its P & A cost from theatrical business. FLOP!
Additionally, competition from other releases during the same week may have affected audience turnout. While the film’s patriotic theme is strong, it may take time for word-of-mouth to draw in wider crowds.
