The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has moved to tighten action against filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s production banner, B62 Studios, after alleged repeated breaches during a Mumbai schedule of Ranveer Singh starrer Dhurandhar: The Revenge.
The civic body’s A ward office has written to the Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Zone 1) recommending that B62 Studios be permanently blacklisted from applying for future filming permissions. The development follows complaints linked to a shoot in South Mumbai’s Fort area.
Latest Update: BMC Moves To Permanently Blacklist B62 Studios
In its letter, the A ward office also proposed a penalty of Rs 1 lakh for shooting on a building terrace and using two generator vans without proper authorisation. The BMC has additionally forfeited the Rs 25,000 security deposit submitted by the applicant.
Officials said the production was granted permission for a February 7 and 8 shoot between Modi Street and Perin Nariman Street, with the approval routed through the Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation Limited.
According to authorities, the crew allegedly violated police conditions attached to the permission, including restrictions that banned crackers and flammable materials.
After the alleged breaches, an application was filed seeking permission to film on February 13 and 14. Officials said the request was cancelled, citing the earlier violations.
A fresh application was later submitted for filming between 12.30 am and 4.00 am on February 14. Officials stated that conditional permission was granted after the applicant assured authorities that no flammable materials would be used.
Despite that assurance, police allegedly received complaints at around 12.45 am on February 14 about the use of flammable torches during filming.
A senior BMC official was quoted as saying, “Their officers reached the location within 15 minutes, where they seized five lit torches.”
After the second incident, the applicants reportedly assured the authorities that visuals involving fire would be created using VFX. The A ward office has now sought approval to levy fines, formally register the seized items, and permanently blacklist the applicants, including Komal Pokhriyal and Nashir Khan, along with B62 Studios, from future permissions via the state film corporation portal.
