In Bollywood, a famous surname can open the first door, but it cannot protect anyone once Friday numbers start telling their own story. That reality is beginning to shadow Junaid Khan, Shanaya Kapoor and Rasha Thadani, three high visibility star kids whose early career narratives are increasingly being shaped less by launch buzz and more by the commercial pressure hanging over each next release.
Junaid’s journey has been especially closely watched because he arrived with the dual curiosity of lineage and a serious acting pitch. After debuting on ott with Maharaj in 2024, he moved into theatres with Loveyapa, which released on February 7, 2025 and proved to be a box office disaster with under 5 crore nett lifetime. His next film, Ek Din, released last week and tanked at box office with less than 4 crore nett week one, which means he does not have the luxury of choosing big projects anytime soon. The industry will be watching whether his next outing Ragini 3 helps reposition him as a performer audiences actively turn up for.

Shanaya Kapoor’s situation carries a different kind of pressure. Her debut film Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan was set for a July 11, 2025 theatrical release and tabled at box office badly, and Tu Yaa Main with Adarsh Gourav released in February 2026. Film flopped badly with single digit lifetime box office number. Her next release must be opposite Abhay Verma directed by Shujat Saudagar.

For a newcomer still defining her screen identity, the challenge is not just delivering a successful film but establishing a distinct persona quickly enough to survive the inevitable comparisons that trail every star kid launch.
Rasha Thadani, meanwhile, has already had a direct taste of that scrutiny. Azaad, directed by Abhishek Kapoor and co-starring Aaman Devgan, Ajay Devgn and Diana Penty, released on January 17, 2025 and failed to generate any theatrical outcome. That has only sharpened attention around what follows. As conversation builds around Lyaka Lyaki, the stakes feel higher because second films often decide whether a debut setback becomes a temporary stumble or the beginning of a harder label.

The Next Films Matter More Than The Launches
What links these three actors is not just lineage, but timing. None of them is in a phase where the industry is willing to separate promise from performance for too long. In each case, the next film carries more narrative weight than the first. A debut can be explained away with launch pressure, uneven material or audience hesitation. A follow up usually cannot.
Shanaya Kapoor Needs A Breakout Identity
Shanaya’s biggest task is to create recall beyond the novelty of her introduction. With couple of films in the pipeline, the opportunity lies in turning visibility into a more defined screen presence. At this stage, one solid hit can dramatically reset how the industry reads her trajectory.
Rasha Thadani Enters A High Stakes Second Phase
Rasha now stands at the most unforgiving career checkpoint for any newcomer, the second phase after a weak theatrical beginning. If Lyaka Lyaki lands well, it can quickly change the tone around her. If it does not, the disaster pattern surrounding this cluster of star kid launches will only look harder to shake.
