Vajra: Tiger Shroff To Train In Knjutsu Inspired Samurai Combat As Ram Madhvani Mounts Japan Heavy Action Drama

Tiger Shroff is heading into unfamiliar combat territory for his next big-screen outing, and it is not just another round of gravity-defying kicks. As of March 7, 2026, the action star is deep in prep for Vajra, Ram Madhvani’s spiritual action thriller, with the film’s Japan schedule shaping up to be a defining piece of its visual identity and stunt design.

With Madhvani mounting the project at scale and producer Mahaveer Jain backing the ambition, Vajra is positioning itself as a globe-facing action drama that uses martial arts as storytelling texture, not only spectacle.

The Latest Update On Tiger Shroff’s Samurai Style Martial Arts Prep

The newest detail to emerge is that a significant portion of Vajra will be shot in Japan, and the action will draw from multiple Japanese martial arts forms, including kenjutsu, the sword-based combat tradition historically associated with samurai practice. The film’s set pieces are also expected to incorporate elements of karate and judo, aligning the choreography with the location’s cultural and martial heritage.

The current plan is for roughly 60 percent of the story to be filmed in Japan, with the remaining portions scheduled for Mumbai. A multi-city Japan schedule is being drawn up, with Tokyo expected to host the first schedule, while Kyoto and Okinawa are also being looked at for later legs of filming.

Importantly, Vajra is set to go on floors in the second quarter of 2026, and Tiger is slated to undergo extensive preparation for the role. In a quote attributed to a source close to the development, the film is described as presenting him in a “never-seen-before avatar,” adding, “In Vajra, Tiger Shroff will be seen in a never-seen-before avatar. It’s a role that unleashes both power and emotion. He is extremely excited about Vajra and its concept and is working very hard.”

What We Know About Vajra So Far

Vajra is directed by Ram Madhvani and produced by Mahaveer Jain, with Tiger Shroff in the lead. The film is being developed as a spiritual action thriller, a tonal space Madhvani has not explored in features at this scale, while Tiger’s physicality is expected to be used in a more culturally coded action grammar than his recent, franchise-driven outings.

While plot specifics are being kept under wraps, the Japan-heavy design suggests the narrative will lean on setting and tradition to shape both character and conflict, rather than using an international location as mere backdrop.

Tiger Shroff’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Over the last few years, Tiger has stayed largely anchored in action. His recent releases include Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (2024), which also began streaming on Netflix on June 6, 2024, and Ganapath (2023). Before that, he headlined Heropanti 2 (2022). On the theatrical front, he is also set to return to the franchise space with Baaghi 4, which has a confirmed theatrical release date of September 5, 2025, directed by A. Harsha and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.

With Vajra moving into its most intensive prep phase ahead of going on floors in 2026, the project now stands out as a deliberate pivot, one that blends Tiger’s athletic screen persona with a more grounded, tradition-rooted martial arts vocabulary.
