Not every Hollywood horror title finds room to breathe in India, but Lee Cronin‘s The Mummy has managed exactly that. Defying the usual front-loaded trend for the genre, the film has kept audiences coming back and turned its theatrical run into a quietly impressive box office story.
After 17 days in cinemas, the film added Rs 2.75 crore over its third weekend. Sunday brought in Rs 1 crore, matching Saturday, while Friday opened the frame at Rs 0.75 crore. The hold was softer than the previous weekend, but it remained steady enough to keep the film firmly in play at a time when many mid-scale Hollywood releases fade much faster.
The Third Weekend Hold Keeps The Horror Run Alive
The day-wise run explains why Lee Cronin’s The Mummy has remained a notable performer. It opened with Rs 2 crore on Friday, jumped to Rs 3 crore on Saturday, and hit Rs 4 crore on Sunday. By the end of its first week, it had grossed Rs 17 crore in India. Its second week added another Rs 12 crore, giving the film a strong platform before entering its third weekend.
That latest weekend push has now taken the India gross to Rs 31.75 crore. Current trends suggest the film could close its third week around Rs 34 crore gross, and its eventual lifetime finish is expected to stay under Rs 40 crore. Even so, for a mid-budget Hollywood horror release, the film has already emerged as a clean hit in the Indian market.

A Dark Reimagining Gives The Classic Title New Life
Directed by Lee Cronin, The Mummy reintroduces the iconic title as a supernatural horror film led by Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, Natalie Grace, and Verónica Falcón, with New Line Cinema, Atomic Monster, Blumhouse Productions, and Wicked/Good backing the project for Warner Bros. Pictures.
The story follows a family whose long-missing daughter returns home in a mummified form, only for them to realize that her return brings something far more terrifying with it. In tone and design, the film works as a fresh reimagining of The Mummy name rather than a continuation of the older action-adventure franchise.
That distinct horror identity shaped audience response from the start. The familiar title delivered early pull, and the genre’s dark, high-concept hook sustained interest well beyond opening week. In India, that combination has translated into a theatrical run with far more staying power than the usual mid-scale Hollywood horror outing.
