One sentence from Abhay Verma has ended the Choomantar conversation. After online buzz linked him, Sreeleela and Jhanki Bodiwala to a Maddock Films project, the actor directly shut it down. As he confirmed in a recent interview, “Sreeleela ke saath Choomantar naam ki koi film nahi ban rahi hai.” With that, one of the most talked about casting stories around his next move has been decisively closed.
Dhak Dhak fame Tarun Dudeja was directing the film and it was reported that film was about to go on floor after pre – production was completed end of last year.
Abhay Verma Clears The Air
The denial carries added significance because Verma had earlier teased the possibility of a high concept film, which intensified curiosity around what he might take up after Munjya. That earlier hint gave fresh energy to chatter around a Maddock title and made the rumoured pairing with Sreeleela and Jhanki Bodiwala travel quickly across fan circles.

Verma’s latest clarification now settles the matter. The rumoured pairing with Sreeleela and Jhanki Bodiwala, along with the claim that Maddock Films was backing Choomantar, is not an active project. His statement leaves no room for ambiguity and firmly resets expectations around his immediate lineup.
Why The Rumour Gained Traction
Much of the excitement around the casting idea came from Verma’s screen image at this stage of his career. Munjya turned him into a recognisable young face within Hindi cinema’s commercial genre space, especially in stories that mix fantasy, comedy and an offbeat tone. That made him an easy fit for another Maddock-style concept in the minds of fans.
The addition of Sreeleela and Jhanki Bodiwala made the rumour even more appealing because it suggested a youthful ensemble with strong recall value. Combined with Maddock’s reputation for packaging unusual mainstream concepts, the casting idea felt instantly marketable, which explains why it spread so quickly online.
Abhay Verma’s Recent And Upcoming Work
With Choomantar now out of the picture, the focus returns to the projects that define Verma’s current career arc. His recent run has been varied, moving from smaller character driven work to a breakout mainstream success that significantly raised his profile.
He appeared in Safed in 2023, followed by Ae Watan Mere Watan in 2024 on Amazon Prime Video. His biggest leap came with Munjya in 2024, the horror comedy that gave him major theatrical visibility and established him as a young actor to watch in the genre space.
Looking ahead, Verma is part of King, Siddharth Anand’s action thriller starring Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan, which is slated for a theatrical release on December 24, 2026. He is also listed for Laikey Laikaa and Dilkashi, both of which remain in the pipeline. For now, his slate is drawing attention for the films that are actually moving forward, not for the rumour he has now personally dismissed.
