Amazon MGM Studios India has unveiled the visually explosive first-look poster for its upcoming theatrical release, Nishaanchi. The adrenaline-fueled crime drama, directed by the acclaimed Anurag Kashyap, marks the acting debut of Aaishvary Thackeray. This poster release follows the film’s initial announcement with a quirky teaser back in June.
Set for a theatrical release on September 19, 2025, Nishaanchi is described as an intense saga about crime and punishment. The film is produced by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh of Jar Pictures in association with Flip Films.
A Glimpse Into A Gritty World
The new poster plunges viewers into the heart of quintessential “desi” cinema – bold, dramatic, and bursting with emotion. It prominently features Aaishvary Thackeray in a compelling double role as twin brothers leading starkly different lives. The poster’s atmospheric and colorful visuals strongly hint at a world where love, revenge, and destiny collide, promising a true-blue masala entertainer designed for the big screen.
A Passion Project Years In The Making
In a recent statement, Anurag Kashyap revealed that this film has been a long-gestating passion project. He shared that he wrote the story back in 2016 and was searching for the right studio partner. “I had been looking for a studio that trusted me to do Nishaanchi… the way it should be made,” Kashyap said. “Amazon MGM loved it, believed in it, and became the wall behind us. This is exactly what happened with all my films that people love.”
Kashyap described the film as a story full of “raw human emotions, love, lust, power, crime and punishment, betrayal, redemption and the consequences of it all.” He added, “We’re excited, nervous, and can’t wait to share the film with the audience.”
What To Expect From ‘Nishaanchi’
Nikhil Madhok, Head of India Originals at Amazon MGM Studios, praised Kashyap as a “maestro of raw, unfiltered, and emotionally charged storytelling.” He also revealed that the music will be a key feature, calling it “a standout element, and a testament to Anurag’s unique creative vision.” Madhok confirmed Nishaanchi is part of an initial slate of theatrical movies from the studio, exemplifying their “commitment to exploring fresh narratives.” The film also boasts a powerful ensemble cast, including Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra.
