Salman Khan Films has moved swiftly to shut down fresh chatter around Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace, issuing a sharply worded clarification after claims surfaced that the film had run into trouble with the Central Board of Film Certification. The banner’s statement leaves little room for interpretation and makes one thing clear: the film is not stuck with the CBFC because it has not even reached that stage yet.
The clarification came through an official text statement carrying the Salman Khan Films branding. At a time when pre-release rumours can snowball within hours, the production house chose to directly address the certification claims rather than let the speculation gather pace around one of Salman Khan’s biggest upcoming films.
Salman Khan Films Issues Its Clarification
The statement from the production house read, “Any claims suggesting that Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace has encountered issues with the CBFC or that its certification has been put on hold are false. The film has not yet been submitted to the CBFC for certification. Therefore, such reports are entirely baseless. We request that media outlets and individuals refrain from circulating unverified information. Any official updates regarding the film will be shared by Salman Khan Films through its official channels only.”
That wording is significant because it addresses both parts of the rumour cycle at once: the alleged certification issue and the suggestion that the process had already begun. According to the banner, neither is true. For now, any authenticated update on the film’s censor status will only come from Salman Khan Films itself.
What Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace Is About
Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace is a Hindi war drama directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Salman Khan under the Salman Khan Films banner, with Jio Studios attached as distributor. The film stars Salman Khan and Chitrangada Singh. It is based on material from Shiv Aroor’s India’s Most Fearless and draws from the 2020 Galwan Valley clash. As of now, the film is scheduled to release on August 21, 2026.
The project had already attracted attention for its title change from Battle of Galwan to Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace, making this latest clarification another closely watched update in its rollout.
Salman Khan’s Recent And Upcoming Work
Salman Khan was last seen in Sikandar, which released in 2025. Before that, his recent film outings included Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan in 2023 and Antim: The Final Truth in 2021, part of a phase where he balanced star-driven commercial vehicles with producer-backed projects.
Looking ahead, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace remains his major confirmed upcoming lead release, with Apoorva Lakhia directing and Chitrangada Singh co-starring. Filmography listings also mention special appearances in Raja Shivaji and 7 Dogs, but Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace is the confirmed big-screen title currently at the centre of his slate.
