Manoj Bajpayee Says Actors Are’Face’ Of The Film, Reacts To Filmmakers Criticising Their High Fees: ‘First You Feed Rasgulla, Then You Cry’

Manoj Bajpayee recently spoke in support of actor amid the debate of stars' rising fees. Check out Bhaiyya Ji actor said!

Actor Manoj Bajpayee is known for his powerful performances in Satya, Shool, Gangs of Wasseypur, Aligarh, and more. He recently weighed in on the ongoing debate about stars demanding high fees. Bajpayee, who was last seen in Apoorv Singh Karki’s film Bhaiyya Ji, shared his thoughts in a recent interview. The actor expressed support for his fellow stars, arguing that producers are being contradictory in their complaints about rising fees.

Manoj Bajpayee Speaks In Support Of Actors

In an interview with ETimes, Bajpayee highlighted the irony of producers who once pampered stars with lavish perks now complaining about their demands.

He used a colourful analogy to make his point: “First you feed me rasgulla and protein so that I can go for a marathon because I am the only one you think can win this race, and then you are crying over the number of rasgullas I ate or the protein shakes I drank!”

The actor’s words suggest that the same producers who encourage stars to perform their best now grumble about the costs involved.

Bajpayee also reflected on his experience in the industry, noting the hypocrisy of producers who often choose big stars over talented actors like himself. He pointed out that stars are often chosen for their ability to draw audiences and guarantee box office success.

Despite this, he mentioned that he hasn’t been offered exorbitant fees, implying that the industry’s focus on star power overshadows the value of good acting.

The Gangs of Wasseypur star also touched on the broader business dynamics of the film industry. He acknowledged that while it’s acceptable for stars to ask for certain “facilities,” there should be a reasonable limit.

Bajpayee Calls Actors ‘Face’ Of The Film

Bajpayee emphasised that stars are the “face of the film,” and many even opt for profit-sharing deals, taking a smaller upfront fee in exchange for a share of the movie’s profits.

This discussion comes in the wake of recent comments from various Bollywood filmmakers who have voiced their concerns about the rising costs associated with star salaries. Notably, Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma criticised the situation, stating, “Actors ki itni value nahi reh gayi ki public unko dekhne aaye.” He argued that audiences often watch films featuring these stars on OTT platforms out of necessity rather than genuine interest.

As for Bajpayee’s latest project, Bhaiyya Ji, the film also features Zoya Hussain and Vipin Sharma. It hit theatres on 24 May earlier this year and has been available for streaming on ZEE5 since 26 July. The movie has received mixed reviews, but Bajpayee’s performance has been widely praised.
