Nitesh Tiwari Ramayana Part One Delays Gateway Of India Launch Event, Launch Now Planned Closer To May

In what was shaping up to be one of Mumbai’s most cinematic, crowd-stopping reveals of the year, the grand Gateway of India showcase for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part One has been postponed. The plan, mounted at a landmark synonymous with scale and spectacle, was designed to officially unveil the principal characters and roll out key promotional assets. But as of March 8, 2026, the makers have hit pause.

The decision signals how carefully the team is timing every beat of this two-part epic, especially with the film positioned as a global IMAX event and not merely a domestic tentpole.

Latest Update: Gateway Of India Event Postponed

The character showcase was originally planned to coincide with Ram Navami on March 26, with invitations already sent out and the venue locked. However, the producers have now decided to defer the unveiling amid rising geopolitical tensions linked to the ongoing US, Israel and Iran conflict.

A source close to the production says, “The Ram Navami launch was planned as a massive moment for the film, but Ramayana is not just a domestic project; it’s an international film with a global audience. The producers felt that the current situation worldwide is not the most conducive environment to unveil such important material.”

The same source adds that the team does not want to rush the launch, and the promotional roll out is now being planned closer to May. The revised date has not been confirmed yet.
