Following her fantastic performance in the recently released film Sherni, Vidya Balan is teaming up with Abundantia Entertainment producer Vikram Malhotra once again. Vidya has signed Tumhari Sulu director Suresh Triveni’s next drama, which will also star renowned actress Shefali Shah.
Now, according to PeepingMoon, Jalsa is the title of the film starring Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah. This title is claimed to have been locked by the producers since it fits in well with the plot. However, sources have emphasised that the term has nothing to do with Amitabh Bachchan’s same-named Juhu residence, which has become something of a symbol in Mumbai for Hindi film fans. Vidya and Shefali will play central roles in the film, which is a drama thriller about social class differences. They come from two different backgrounds.

The film, which is written by Suresh Triveni and a team of other writers, will begin shooting in Mumbai in September. The director has reportedly begun pre-production and is awaiting Shefali’s dates before finalising the filming schedule. Shefali is set to finish two films before beginning Jalsa: Alia Bhatt’s Darlings and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Doctor G.
Vidya, on the other hand, is currently having a break before returning to the sets. After Vidya finishes her Abundantia Entertainment production, the latter is set to begin filming.
