OPINION: Why Is Kartik Aaryan The New Trouble Kid Of Bollywood?

This is not for the first time when an outsider is labelled with such a tag.

Last year witnessed a lot of hue and cry about the nepotism in Bollywood. The sad demise of Sushant Singh Rajput gave birth to a lot of conspiracy theories. And this year, we saw Kartik Aaryan getting ousted from Dharma’s film, Dostana 2 where his unprofessional attitude and conduct was stated to be the reason.

Yesterday it was reported in the media that he has now ousted from SRK’s next production too. This Red Chillies film was supposed to be directed by Ajay Bahl but the creative differences resulted in this sad situation. Now, it is being widely discussed how Kartik is the new troubled kid in Bollywood.

This is not for the first time when an outsider is labelled with such a tag. Earlier, Sushant faced such accusations of attitude problems and even Rajkummar Rao, an outsider has not managed to do a SINGLE film with Dharma, YRF or Sajid Nadiadwala till date. Are Rajkummars / Kartiks not talented enough or is this another case of nepotism or is this really their attitude problem?

The answer lies in the history, Suneil Shetty’s son Ahan Shetty is getting launched by Sajid Nadiadwla in Tadap (remake of RX100), he is the same producer who launched Jackie Shroff’s son Tiger Shroff. Alia, Jhanvi, Shanaya are Dharma kids and all of them get multiple chances in this industry, despite their failures.

But Kartik is suddenly a problem child! After losing two back to back projects, even if they were co-incidences – will he get multiple chances like them, don’t think so!  It will be an uphill task for him, from here on. There are murmurs in the trade that Kartik is asking too much and interfering in creative calls, but it’s a common practice from industry kids be it Sonam, Varun, Arjun, Jhanvi or even Harshvardhan Kapoor!

Kartik’s next Bhool Bhulaiyya sequel is also in limbo for now. It seems that despite numerous hits and a great box office record, Kartik will have to struggle hard to make it back.
