Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par Fails To Beat Overseas Box Office Collection Of Even Shah Rukh Khan’s Duds Fan And Zero

While Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par has struck a chord domestically (120 crore net approx in 10 days) among niche audience with a heartwarming tale. Its overseas journey hasn’t been as stellar as it fails to beat even two flop films of Shah Rukh Khan released almost a decade back!

While the India business is good, Sitaare Zameen Par is below average in the international belts due to rather odd release planning and niche content. The Aamir Khan starrer has collected around USD 6 million (INR 51 crore) in the international belts in 10-days, and is headed for a finish around the USD 8.25 million (INR 70 crore) mark in the overseas markets.

Shah Rukh Khan starrer Fan collected $ 10.08 million 9 years back in 2016 despite flop verdict in domestic market. SRK’s other domestic flop Zero collected $ 10 million 7 years back in 2018. Shah Rukh Khan made historical comeback in 2023 with Jawan and Pathaan; back to back blockbusters collecting almost $ 48 – $49 million each in overseas market.

Comparison Of Overseas Box Office Collection

Sitaare Zameen Par (2025) $ 6 million (₹51 Cr) (expected to finish with $ 8.25 million (₹70 Cr)

Fan (2016) $10.08 million (₹65.5 Cr)

Zero (2018) $10 million (₹70.3 Cr)

Fan and Zero, anchored by SRK’s sheer star power, had commercial hooks—a dual-role thriller and a high-concept romance. And despite domestic flop status, Shah Rukh managed to make a splash in overseas market. SRK’s larger-than-life films enjoy strong diaspora pull.
