Taapsee Pannu‘s latest release, Assi, is showing poor trend at the box office. After witnessing a noticeable jump on day two, the film saw another dip on its third day in theatres due to big India cricket match. The courtroom drama, which highlights serious issues faced by women, has struggled to maintain consistent momentum over its opening week one.
Assi earned Rs 1.30 crore nett in India on day three. The film had opened with Rs 1 crore on day one and then jumped to Rs 1.60 crore on day two. Despite that spike, the third-day numbers indicate a sharp fall once again though it was due to cricket match.
With this, the total collection of the film stood at approximately Rs 3.90 crore in India after 1st weekend. Film remained poor on weekdays and collected 6.30 crore net in 1st week. Film added only 2.25 crore nett in 2nd week despite Holi holidays and lack of competition from new releases.
Film has total of 8.55 crore nett and is heading single digit lifetime in vicinity of 9 crore. Flop!
The movie reportedly opened with 1651 shows across the country considering that numbers are poor. These numbers suggest that while there was curiosity among audiences initially, the film has not yet found steady traction.

Assi Lags Behind 70 Percent Than Thappad
The numbers are significantly lower than what Taapsee and Anubhav’s previous collaboration, Thappad, earned at the box office in 2020.
Thappad, which also tackled patriarchy and gender injustice, opened to similarly strong reviews. However, unlike Assi, it showed substantial growth over its opening weekend, collecting around are 13.98 crore in its first three days (2.89 cr, 4.59 cr & 6.50 cr).
