Last weekend two major Hindi films released ‘Marjaavaan’ and ‘Motichoor Chaknachoor’. Both films have different target audience as firmer is targeted on mass and other one is for plexes.
‘Marjaavaan’ was heavily promoted by T Series and Emmay Entertainment. Film is directed by Milap Milan Zaveri who directed hit ‘Satyamave Jayate’ last year. The movie opened to mixed reviews today and very lopsided opening numbers all over.
Film was running to bumper housefull capacity in mass centers like Bhopal, Lucknow and Patna but very weak in Mumbai, South and Punjab. The movie is average in Delhi and Gujarat.
Marjaavaan collected 7.03 cr nett on day one which is above average number. Film might be flat over the weekend as there will be minimal support from multiplexes.
2nd day again film was almost same in masses and multiplexes. The film is doing mad business in smaller centers but with this pattern in long run. Film collected 7.21 cr nett on day two. Marjaavaan grew again but better than expected as mass centers saw good jump on Sunday and collected 10.18 cr nett.
Film has flat weekend as we predicted though Sunday saw good growth and had weekend total of 24.42 cr nett. Film neither dropped nor held very well but overall it had decent hold on Monday.
The movie collected 4.15 cr nett on Monday which is 40% drop and that’s good for a massy film. Film collected 3.61 cr nett on Tuesday which was minimal drop. The movie added 3.16 cr nett on Wednesday and 2.53 cr nett on Thursday.
Film has 1st week total of 37.87 cr nett. Seems like a an average film but a breather at box office for Siddharth Malhotra after strings of disasters.
