lman Khan release always comes with huge expectations and that too if it’s 3rd part of successful franchise. ‘Dabangg 3’ released this week worldwide. But film failed at box office because of poor content though external factors dented it further.
Film received decent to good reviews and that helped the opening numbers. Film has rather tepid music and pre release buzz was poor too. Going by advances, 11 cr number was even lower than ‘Saaho’ and previous Salman Khan films. Film was affected by protests around the country especially in mass centers.
‘Dabangg 3’ collected 23 cr nett on day one and including south 24.50 cr nett which is not bad but not great either. It was supposed to get close to 30 cr nett mark in order to cross 95-100 cr nett in 1st Weekend. Even on 2nd day film witnessed up and down trend all day plus protests around the country dented the film further.
Film collected 24.75 cr nett on day two which was flat trending. Film grew marginally on Sunday and collected 31.90 cr nett which is average.
Film has weekend total of 81.15 cr nett and considering 14-15 cr loss due to law & order situation this seems still average. Film needed to be super strong over weekdays for healthy week one number but it dropped on Monday.
Film collected only 10.70 cr nett on Monday which is 60% drop from day one. Film added 12 cr nett on Tuesday which is weak considering it should have grown a day before holiday. Film jumped on Christmas holiday with 15.70 cr nett which was good but not up to the mark considering national holiday. Film added 7 cr nett on Thursday.
Film had 1st week total of 126.55 cr nett. Film dropped and collected 3.50 cr nett on 2nd Friday. Film collected 3.25 cr nett on Saturday followed by 4.50 cr nett on Sunday. Trend in 2nd Weekend exhibits clearly that film found no appreciation. Film added 2 cr nett on Monday, 2.50 cr nett on Tuesday followed by jump on new year with 3.50 cr nett and drop on Thursday with 1.25 cr nett number. It collected poor 20.50 cr nett in 2nd week.
Film has 2-week total of 147.05 cr nett which is below par. Film will struggle to cross 155 cr nett lifetime.
