Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain Box Office Disaster: Opening Day Earns Just 25 Lacs; Heading for Sub-1 Crore Finish!

The big screen outing of Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain has begun on a worryingly dull note at the ticket window. After running for years as a familiar comfort watch on Indian television, the brand finally stepped into cinemas with Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain! Fun On The Run, aiming to convert its catchphrases, recognisable characters, and family friendly humour into opening weekend footfalls. But the first day suggests that nostalgia and recall did not translate into strong theatrical demand.

The film’s Day 1 collection stands at 25 lacs, a number that immediately puts pressure on its showcase count through the crucial opening weekend. For smaller films, the first Friday is not just about revenue but also about confidence: it influences show timings, screen allocation, and how much exhibitors are willing to back the title against competing options.

Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain Day 1 box office: 25 lacs start sets off alarm bells

With a very low occupancy of just 5.8%, the film struggled to find takers even in the Hindi heartland, where the show enjoys a massive following.

With an opening of 25 lacs, Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain! Fun On The Run finds itself in a tight spot from the outset. Theatrical business for comedy relies heavily on group viewing and walk in audiences, which typically show up when early buzz is loud and the first day occupancy looks healthy. A start this low leaves little margin for error.

What makes the situation more delicate is the speed at which screens can change hands. If Saturday does not show a sharp jump, the film could see reduced shows in prime time slots, making it even harder to build momentum. In the current market, where audience attention is split across theatres and OTT, films with soft openings often struggle to recover unless word of mouth triggers a visible spike.

Khichdi remains a key TV-to-film benchmark, not a predecessor

For context, Hindi cinema has previously seen popular sitcom brands attempt the jump from television to theatres, with Khichdi: The Movie often cited as a comparable TV-to-film benchmark.

If we compare the numbers, while Khichdi The Movie opened at 60 lakh in 2010, Khichdi 2 opened at 1.1 crore in 2023. Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! Fun On The Run has opened 58% lower than the first Khichdi movie, which was released over a decade ago, when ticket prices were much lower. If compared to Khichdi 2, the gap is even more embarrassing, with Bhabiji earning nearly 77% less than the Parekh family’s second outing.

Sub 1 crore lifetime finish now looks likely unless weekend turns around

Given the 25 lacs Day 1 start, the film is now tracking towards a sub 1 crore lifetime finish unless the weekend brings a dramatic turnaround. The next two days are critical: a strong Saturday jump and steady Sunday footfalls are the only realistic paths to stabilise collections and retain screens into the weekdays.

For now, the box office story is clear: Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain! Fun On The Run needs an immediate surge in audience turnout, or its theatrical run could be cut short.
