Ranveer Singh Starrer mega budget much awaited film released last weekend across 3300 screens all over India.
Film had huge expectations and Christmas holiday presented huge opportunity for a mammoth biz but film failed miserably. It was waiting for theatrical release for close to two years since pandemic started but film is rejected by audience apart of from few urban centres.
Film opened at 25% opening and it was good in metros. But it managed only 12.64 cr nett on day one which was way below par.
Film needed to score all over in order to fulfil expectations of huge biz but it also faced stiff competition from Spider – Man and Pushpa as both the films are rock solid in 2nd week also at box office.
Film had below par growth on Saturday considering it was national holiday of Christmas. Film collected 16.95 cr nett with 35% growth but it needed minimum 60% growth. Film again grew marginally and collected 17.41 cr nett on Sunday.
Film has total of 47 cr nett approx over the weekend. On Monday film needed minimum drop but it has dropped by 35-40% further from Friday and should collect close to 7.29 cr nett. Film added 6.70 cr nett on Tuesday with further drop.
Now with 60.99 cr nett in 5 – days, film is heading for massive disappointment at box office as all preview buzz and media hype failed to bring audience. It is heading for 70 cr nett week one and lifetime will remain short of 90 cr nett.
And on contrary under similar circumstances, Hollywood biggie Spider – Man and south film Pushpa are doing massive numbers.
Success of Spider – Man and Sooryavanshi marks the fact that event films targeted on masses are here to stay and urban films like 83 (its treatment is very urban) and Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui will find tough in near future.
