In its first week of release, Gangubai Kathiawadi surpassed the 100 crore mark worldwide. The film has so far grossed 108.3 crore overall. The film stars Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Vijay Raaz, and Shantanu Maheshwari and is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film follows Gangubai of Kamathipura, a real-life madam who rose to become one of the most influential figures in the Mumbai mafia. Alia plays the character Gangubai in the film.
With a first-day gross of 10.5 crores, Alia’s latest film was the third greatest opener during the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite 50% occupancy in big circuits such as Mumbai and Delhi and no night showing in Delhi, the film has done exceptionally well.
The film’s total collection now stands at 73.94 cr nett after collecting 5.01 cr nett on Friday in India.
