Film is based on one of the biggest sporting events happened in history of independent India – victory of Indian team in 1983 World Cup at Lords, England. Ranveer Singh starrer 83 is based on that event and it’s directed by Kabir Singh.
Film is waiting for release for last 15 months or so as this is a big screen experience and Covid continued to delay its release. Film kicked off its advances yesterday across all national chains as it is 5 day away from its release.
Film took a slow start in advances which was expected as Bollywood films tend to get huge ticket sales in advances only a day or two before release. It sold 15-17k tickets yesterday which is no where close to what Hollywood biggie Spider – Man achieved last week.

But it’s more of a word of mouth film for families and event film for young cricket lovers so it will swell this number in 2-3 days time. It’s big test for Bollywood as except Sorryavanshi, no other Bollywood film performed in a big manner. In order to lift the morale in middle of competition from Hollywood and south, this is a crucial film.
