Despite all odds, Vivek Agnihotri’s film The Kashmir Files is doing well. In spite of being developed on a shoestring budget with no promotion and marketing, as well as a slew of problems, the film is exploding in theatres. On March 11, The Kashmir Files was released in theatres. The film is set in 1990 during the Kashmir insurgency and stars Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty.
The Kashmir Files had a phenomenal opening weekend at the box office, grossing Rs 3.55 crore on its first day. Despite the odds, massive numbers flocked to the theatres on the third day to see the film. It even outperformed other films currently showing in theatres in several areas. While The Kashmir Files had a limited release, the number of screens and shows has since been raised due to popular demand. The total number of screens on Day 3 was 2000. On Saturday, the film saw a significant increase in its box office numbers, rising from Rs 3.55 crore on Friday to Rs 8.50 crore on Saturday. According to reports, Vivek Agnihotri’s film made Rs 15.10 crore on Day 3 of its release.
