Pauda, Chal Mera Putt 2, Qismat 2, and now Chal Mera Putt 3 – another Punjabi film that has been a box office triumph. Though the extent to which the Punjabi comedy will be successful remains to be seen, the fact that the opening has been successful is already half the battle won.
The film earned close to 5 crores nett in its opening weekend, which is super for a punjabi film with audiences largely in Punjab and parts of the Delhi NCR. Maharashtra’s theatres will open on October 22nd, but any minor victory before then should be welcomed since it signals that state-level marketplaces are opening up.
By the end of the second weekend, the film should have surpassed 10 crores, and a lifetime of 15 crores is possible. One has to question if the film would have had a higher rating if there had been more attention, especially given there was no genuine release announcement, fanfare, or hoopla around the promotion or any marketing in general. The producers were mostly relying on the franchise’s popularity, and while this has secured the kind of opening that has occurred, there may have been more if the marketing had been more effective.
The following are the collections of the film :
Friday : 1.35 cr nett
Saturday : 1.70 cr nett
Sunday : 1.75 cr nett
Total : 4.80 cr nett
