Shang Chi
Shang Chi opened to very good reviews and opening day at Indian box office with 3 cr nett, which was the highest opening day number since the restart of cinemas in India in July – including all Hindi releases.
The film was expected to see an upwards growth and rake in around INR 12-13 crore nett over the weekend, but unfortunately, the growth has been limited over Saturday and Sunday. But it’s not a huge surprise because 50% collections are coming from South (Maharashtra theatres still remain shut), which leads to a limited growth after good opening.
Even Delhi and UP have done well, and it’s an encouraging number. The film is likely to cross a total of 20-25 cr nett lifetime in India. Day-wise box office collections are as follows.
Day 1, Friday – 3 cr nett
Day 2, Saturday – 3.5 cr nett
Day 3, Sunday – 4.1 cr nett
Total weekend – 10.6 cr nett
Fast and Furious 9
Fast & Furious 9 saw a delayed release in India which led to pirated copies readily available. The film saw a slight dip on Friday because of this and competition from new release, Shang Chi but picked up over the weekend, with decent growth on Saturday and Sunday.
The film is doing better business than Shang Li in some circuits but it’s so minimal to make an impact on overall collections. The film is likely to cross a total of 15-17 cr nett lifetime in India.
Day-wise box office collections are as follows.
Day 1, Thursday – 2 cr nett
Day 2, Friday – 1.5 cr nett
Day 3, Saturday – 1.75 cr nett
Day 4, Sunday – 2.05 cr nett
Total weekend (4 days) – 7.3 cr nett
