Exclusive: Shang Chi holds well on second Friday at box office in India

The film saw a drop in collections over weekdays but seemed to have gained a decent momentum back on Friday.

Shang Chi opened to very good reviews and opening day at Indian box office with 3 cr nett, which was the highest opening day number since the restart of cinemas in India in July – including all Hindi releases.

It had a good first weekend of 10.6 cr nett. The film saw a drop in collections over weekdays but seemed to have gained a decent momentum back on Friday.

The film witnessed a growth on Friday from Thursday despite new releases Thalaiivi and Seetimaar. The film should do second weekend business of around 4.5 cr nett which would take the film to 20 crore nett after its second weekend. The lifetime collection is expected to be in range of 27-29 cr nett.

Break up of collections:

 

Day 1, Friday – 3 cr nett

Day 2, Saturday – 3.5 cr nett

Day 3, Sunday – 4.1 cr nett

Total weekend – 10.6 cr nett

Week 1- 15.75 cr nett

2nd Friday – 1.15 cr nett

Total collections – 16.85 cr nett
