After much anticipation, Dhruva Sarja’s film Martin hit theatres last Friday. However, it quickly became apparent that the film would struggle to meet expectations.
While viewers didn’t expect groundbreaking cinema, nobody anticipated the film would become a laughingstock on social media.
Martin has been touted as one of the most expensive Kannada films ever, with a reported budget of around Rs100 crores.
Unfortunately, it has faced severe backlash for its poor CGI and VFX, among other production issues. This critical response has led many to predict a disastrous run at the Indian box office.
Directed by AP Arjun, Martin opened to a flurry of negative reviews from both critics and audiences. Despite this, many fans have praised Dhruva Sarja’s performance and his on-screen charisma. However, this appreciation was not enough to overcome the overall dissatisfaction.
The film struggled to gain traction, with no positive momentum at the box office throughout its opening weekend.
Martin Fails To Make An Impact With Just Rs 15 Cr Opening Weekend
Martin kicked off its box office journey with an opening day collection of Rs 6.30 crores. Unfortunately, the situation only worsened from there. On Saturday, the film saw a disappointing drop, earning just Rs 5.40 crores.
By Sunday, the numbers had further declined, with the film bringing in only Rs 3.30 crores. This downward trend indicates that Martin is on track for a short theatrical run, likely ending poorly at the box office.
By the end of its opening weekend, Martin has netted only Rs 15 crores across all languages.

Dhruv Sarja Starrer Has Only Recovered 15% Of Its Budget So Far
Given the negative word-of-mouth and critical reviews, industry insiders are sceptical that it will even reach the Rs 50 crore mark throughout its entire theatrical run.
The staggering deficit becomes apparent when comparing its earnings to its budget. With the film reportedly needing to recover around Rs 100 crores, the current earnings of Rs 15 crores place it at a significant loss of Rs 85 crores. In fact, it has only managed to recover about 15% of its production costs.
