The horror comedy helmed by Anees Bazmee, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, finished its theatrical run with a global take that was more than Rs 250 crore. The film starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani made Rs 186 crore nett (Rs 221 crore gross), with an additional $5.7 million (Rs 45 crore) coming from overseas distribution. With this run, the Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani production is expected to be one of the highest-grossing movies of the year, providing the Hindi cinema industry with a much-needed blockbuster.

The production company spent a further Rs 15 crore on advertising and publishing, bringing the whole spend to Rs 85 crore. They’ve received strong returns from all angles, with the Indian theatrical share alone (Rs 85 crore) covering the budget recovery and another Rs 18 crore coming in as the overseas share. The producers had a bit of bad luck with the non-theatrical profits because the deals were made well in advance of the epidemic, but they did receive a premium sum for a four-week Netflix premiere.
In addition to additional 5 crore from music rights, the producers received 60 crore from satellite and internet rights, bringing their total non-theatrical recovery to 65 crore. Since the true worth of this non-theatrical post-box office success easily exceeds three figures, it is more of a lost opportunity cost, as was already mentioned. The lead actor, Kartik Aaryan, has managed to extend his reach among the general public, making him the biggest beneficiary of the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
