Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey Crosses Rs 131.32 Crore Nett, Becomes India’s Top Imax Grosser In 14 Days

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has delivered a major new India box office milestone, crossing Rs 131.32 crore nett in just 14 days and moving ahead of the lifetime India collections of Oppenheimer. The feat came even as the film’s business was hit on Thursday, when Spider-Man: Brand New Day entered cinemas and reduced its screens and shows.

The second-week trend still reflected remarkable staying power. Weekend business remained robust, weekday numbers held well through most of the stretch, and the Thursday slide arrived only after the film had already built enough momentum to score another landmark run for Nolan in the Indian market.

The Odyssey Sets A New Imax India Record In 14 Days

Week 2 collections stood at Rs 6.74 crore on Friday, Rs 11.25 crore on Saturday, Rs 11.42 crore on Sunday, Rs 4.19 crore on Monday, Rs 4.82 crore on Tuesday, Rs 4.46 crore on Wednesday, and Rs 2.79 crore on Thursday. That took The Odyssey to Rs 131.32 crore nett in 14 days, turning its premium-screen dominance into a fresh record.

With that total, The Odyssey has become the highest-grossing IMAX release of all time in India. The scale of that achievement also fits the way the film was positioned globally as a format-driven theatrical event. In its official promotional communication around the release, IMAX called it the “first-ever theatrical release shot entirely with IMAX 70mm film cameras,” and later described the film as “the purest and most complete expression yet of the power of Imax.” Those remarks now feel fully validated by the India numbers, where audiences have treated The Odyssey as a premium big-screen experience from the outset.

Thursday’s slowdown, meanwhile, came after Spider-Man: Brand New Day entered the marketplace and cut into the film’s showcasing. Even so, The Odyssey had already done enough through the week to set a new benchmark in India’s IMAX box office history.

Why The Odyssey’S Event Design Powered This Record

That newly minted IMAX record is also a reflection of how precisely The Odyssey was built and sold as a theatrical spectacle. Released on July 17, 2026, the Universal Pictures-backed epic was written and directed by Christopher Nolan, produced with Emma Thomas under Syncopy, and mounted from the ground up for large-format exhibition. The ensemble cast includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron, giving the film the kind of star-heavy scale that strengthens event cinema.

Adapted from Homer’s classic, The Odyssey follows Odysseus on his perilous journey home after the Trojan War. In India, that storytelling ambition has translated directly into premium-format demand, which is exactly why the film’s latest milestone matters beyond the raw total. For Nolan, whose Oppenheimer had already set a towering standard in the market, The Odyssey has now raised the IMAX bar even higher.
