Deool Band 2 Box Office: Pravin Tarde Film Records Second-Biggest Marathi Opening Weekend With Rs 18.50 Crore

Marathi cinema has found another major crowd-puller this month, and Deool Band 2 is now at the centre of that conversation. Pravin Tarde’s devotional drama has turned its opening frame into a statement run, riding strong audience interest through the weekend and putting up a number that places it among the biggest starts ever seen for a Marathi film.

The film, which opened in cinemas on May 21, 2026, gathered momentum across the extended weekend. After a solid start, the Sunday surge gave the sequel its biggest single day so far, helping it close the four-day opening weekend at an estimated Rs 18.50 crore gross in India.

Deool Band 2 Records A Huge Opening Weekend

Deool Band 2 collected around Rs 2.75 crore on its opening day, followed by Rs 3 crore on day two and Rs 5.75 crore on day three. The film then jumped to approximately Rs 7 crore on Sunday, taking its opening weekend total to Rs 18.50 crore.

With this, the film has recorded the second-biggest opening weekend for a Marathi film, standing behind Riteish Deshmukh’s Raja Shivaji. The achievement is especially significant because the sequel has already gone past the lifetime business of its 2015 predecessor, Deool Band, within its first weekend itself.

Deool Band 2 Box Office Collection:

Day 1: 2.75 cr

Day 2: 3.00 cr

Day 3: 5.75 cr

Day 4: 7.00 cr

Total: 18.50 crore nett

The trend has also underlined the film’s strong hold in Maharashtra, where devotional and family-driven Marathi dramas often find deep community traction if the audience response is positive. For Pravin Tarde, the opening further strengthens his box office standing in Marathi cinema.

What Deool Band 2 Is About

Deool Band 2 is directed by Pravin Tarde and features Mohan Joshi, Snehal Tarde, Mahesh Manjrekar and Pravin Tarde in key roles. The film is backed by Vatavruksha Entertainment and arrived as a Marathi devotional drama in 2026.

The story follows a farmer whose faith is tested as he goes on a spiritual and emotional journey. Staying within the devotional space of the first film, the sequel blends belief, conflict and family-oriented drama for its core audience.

The original Deool Band, released in 2015, was directed by Pravin Tarde and Pranit Kulkarni. It starred Gashmeer Mahajani, Girija Joshi, Mohan Joshi, Mohan Agashe and Nivedita Saraf, and became a successful Marathi film in its theatrical run.

What The Weekend Means For Marathi Cinema

The Rs 18.50 crore opening weekend gives Deool Band 2 a powerful platform heading into the weekdays. The next major test will be its Monday hold, which will decide how quickly it moves toward a blockbuster verdict.

For now, the film has delivered one of the strongest starts in Marathi cinema history and has given the Deool Band franchise fresh box office muscle more than a decade after the first film.
