It's an overall below par film, making itself struggle at the box-office and won't open more than 2.5-3 cr nett on day one.

Anubhuti Kashyap directed Doctor G stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Rakul Preet Singh, Shefali Shah, Sheeba Chaddha. It is produced by Junglee Pictures. Eeshit Narain has worked on its cinematography. The film has been released today in theatres across the country.

Let’s catch up the detailed latest bollywood Movie reviews!

Plot

Ayushmann plays Dr. Uday Gupta, whereas Rakul Preet acts as a medical student named Dr. Fatima Dugg. Shefali Shah plays Dr Nandini Bhatia. Sheeba Chaddha acts as Lakshmi Devi, mother of Ayushmann on screen. Uday discovers himself as the only male student in the Gynaecology department among the women. His reluctance leads to chaos, perplexion, comedy and later, great camaraderie with his fellow mates in the class. It showcases the journey of a hopeful orthopaedic turned gynaecologist and his struggles.

Performances

Shefali performed well throughout the movie with her nuanced acting skills. The mother-son duo (Sheeba and Ayushmann) is adorable and cute with their dialogues. Rakul Preet doesn’t perform as she feels disinterested and sleepwalks. Ayushmann sticks to his game and deliver yet another honest performance though to be fair, now it all starts looking repetitive.

Analysis

The film is poorly shot with badly edited scenes, including pathetic music and cliche choreography. Joke around one central topic goes on and on with no idea of getting overstretched. Film takes good half an hour to come to the point which is a big minus. Director Anubhuti Kashyap tries to make another Vicky Donor or Bala with one liner idea but fails miserably.

Also special mention for marketing team as this film might go down as worst marketed film with most tacky looking posters & trailers.

Verdict

The beginning 30 minutes were dull. However, gradually prior to the internal and second half of the film picked well. The comedy-drama leaves a good message at the end of it. As per our box office movie reviews, it will an overall below par film, will struggle at the box-office and won’t open more than 2.5-3 cr nett on day one. It will struggle for decent lifetime number.
