This makes him the first Indian actor to have two films that have earned more than $15 million each in this region. Jawan, directed by Atlee, is a high-octane action thriller that revolves around a masked vigilante (SRK) who sets out to rectify the wrongs in the society, while facing a ruthless arms dealer (Vijay Sethupathi) and his own past. The film also stars Nayanthara, Deepika Padukone, Sanjay Dutt and Priyamani in pivotal roles. The film was released on September 7, 2023, coinciding with Janmashtami, and received critical acclaim for its cast performances, screenwriting, action sequences and musical score by Anirudh Ravichander. The film also set several box office records for a Hindi film, overtaking those set by Khan’s previous release Pathaan.

Pathaan
Pathaan, directed by Siddharth Anand, is a spy thriller that features SRK as a RAW agent who teams up with an Interpol officer (Deepika Padukone) and a former agent (John Abraham) to stop a global terrorist threat. The film was released on January 25, 2023, coinciding with Republic Day, and received positive reviews for its slick direction, stunning visuals, thrilling action and chemistry between the leads. The film also marked the comeback of SRK after a hiatus of four years since his last film Zero (2018).
