Bollywood is preparing for a massive box office clash. Yes, we are talking about the 11th August showdown between Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan. The excitement is legitimate because both actors are among the biggest draw cards in the Hindi cinema business.

This Aanand L Rai directorial might struggle to cross double-digit figures or will just breach it but the Aamir Khan starrer is tipped to touch the 18 cr nett plus if not 20 cr nett mark. The main factor is not just the caliber of the movie but also one actor who appears four times a year and another who appears just once every four years.
On top of all this, Akshay Kumar starrer is targeted for ‘masses only’ as such subject will find so many takers in urban high-end multiplexes.
From Sarfarosh to Lagaan to Taare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan has always been a ‘star for classes’ and his film will run riot in multiplexes at least on an opening day. Aamir’s failures have always been trying too hard to be massy films like Mela or Thugs Of Hindostan.
Raksha Bandhan appears to be the clear second in this lopsided clash at the time. Numbers won’t lie on August 11th night, despite how hard everyone, from the media to the filmmakers, will go berserk to paint otherwise.
Raksha Bandhan features actors Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles. The film was scheduled for a worldwide release on November 5, 2021, but it was postponed to August 11, 2022, due to COVID-19-related restrictions. Whereas, Laal Singh Chaddha starring actors Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya, too, will release on August 11, 2022.
