On August 11, 2022, the audience will watch the box office clash between between two big films: Raksha Bandhan and Laal Singh Chaddha. While the first film, featuring Akshay Kumar, is rumoured to be highly emotional, the second film, starring Aamir Khan, is an official version of the Tom Hanks film Forrest Gump.
Laal Singh Chaddha will hog the limelight in multiplexes with 60-65% screens but on contrary RakshaBandhan will snatch 70-75 % single screens.
Both the films have already booked majority of screens and agreement have been signed.
From business perspective, RakshaBandhan will score 12-15 cr nett on day one minimum due to festivities of Raakhi and holiday benefit especially among masses. Lifetime business should be in range of 90-110 cr nett.
Laal Singh Chaddha will score in excess of 20 cr nett as high ticket value multiplexes and craze of Aamir Khan after long gap will be driving factors. Lifetime business should be around 170-200 cr nett.
It seems this clash will also go on the lines of Welcome and Taare Zameen Par.
Written by Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon, the Aanand L Rai directorial Rakshabandhan has been co-produced by Aanand L Rai, Alka Hiranandanai and ZEE Studios. It is Presented by Colour Yellow, ZEE Studios and Cape of Good Films, the film is set to hit screens on 11th August 2022.
‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, on the other hand, has been produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Kiran Rao, and Viacom18 Studios, also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, and Chaitanya Akkineni.
