With his much-anticipated spy thriller “Bell Bottom,” which was released across the country on Thursday, Akshay Kumar has finally delivered entertainment to the public. Since movie halls were closed for over a year due to the COVID-19 outbreak, this is the first big-ticket Bollywood film to hit the big screen.
The film, which starred Vaani Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Lara Dutta, and Adil Hussain in important parts, was released in India on more than 1600 screens. While trade analysts projected the film’s opening day to be around Rs 5-6 crore, Box Office Worldwide reports that the Akshay Kumar-Vaani Kapoor movie has made roughly Rs 2.45 crore on its first day.
While the movie theatres just half-full, the number is still expected to rise on weekends. Meanwhile, the film has done no business in Maharashtra, where cinema theatres have remained closed due to safety concerns.
Interestingly, Akshay’s previous film, ‘Good Newwz,’ which was released in the pre-covid period and also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani, grossed Rs 17.56 crore on Day 1 alone.
