Vikram Vedha starring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan released today. Film has considerable amount of pre release buzz and good reviews have helped the film to multiply the noise.
Film released in 4000 plus screens in India and 1600 plus screens overseas. It’s massive release for a film of this genre and it is because of huge cast. Film is expected to created some ripples at box office.
As we predicted, film managed to sell 65,000 tickets in national multiplex chains and 1.50 lacs tickets all over India by Thursday midnight. This was just better than Laal Singh Chaddha and 30% less than Bhool Bhullaiya 2.
On Friday film opened to strictly average numbers with opening ranging from 20% at best places and lower at most places. Film was expected to grow from evening onwards but then growth didn’t come across the board. Problem is mass pockets did not been respond which was strange for the genre. Lack of one chartbuster song has kept the sizeable audience away.
Film collected 10.58 cr nett on day one which was strictly average day one. Film was expected to collect lot more than that considering release size and reviews.
Yesterday again film has taken a better start and noon onwards trend is better but still lot left to be done at box office. Film is suffering especially in east due to Navratri festivities and month end didn’t help either. Film collected 12.51 cr nett on day two with 18% growth.
Today film got benefit of a Sunday which is national holiday and lot of workplaces was shut. Thought effect will be minimal but it can add 10 to 15% to the total.
As per early estimates, film breached 13.85 cr nett barrier with further 15% growth.
Film should have 3 day weekend total of 36.94 cr nett plus cr nett which is strictly average. Film will have domestic gross of 43.59 cr and worldwide gross of 65 cr approx with day 3 overseas. Still all is not lost for the film as it can hold on weekdays and take advantage of Dussera and other festivities post that.
