All eyes were set on 2024, with Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor starrer film Fighter being the the first big release of the year. The film is directed by Siddharth Anand, post the success of War and Pathaan. Fighter, which released on January 25 coinciding with Republic Day holiday, did well over the weekend but dropped big on Monday morning and but then surprised in 2nd week with solid run. Now film is sustaining in 3rd week too.
Fighter Fought Out Well In 4th Weekend Despite New Releases
Despite new releases, Fighter managed to score 1.75 cr nett on 3rd Friday and which was superb hold considering one mid size film releases too over weekend. Film jumped on 3rd Saturday and collected 3.50 cr nett with 75% jump followed by 4 crore nett on 3rd Sunday. Film crossed 9.25 crore nett over 3rd weekend. Film added 4.70 crore nett on weekdays with jump on Valentine’s Day. Film collected 13.95 crore nett in 3rd week.
Film collected 0.75 cr nett on 4th Friday, 1.75 cr nett on 4th Saturday and 2 cr nett on 4th Sunday. Film jumped big over 4th weekend and crossed 4.50 crore nett. Film will add 4-5 crore nett more from here.
Film has crossed 214.45 cr nett in 25 days. Now film is heading for 220 crore nett lifetime finish. Film has crossed 353 crore worldwide gross. It’s 3rd Hrithik Roshan film to cross 200 crore nett India after War 2 and Krrish 3.
Film has achieved an average status and has done great in overseas. Though it will fall massively short (245 cr nett) of Hrithik’s a decade old blockbuster Krrish 3.
After Massive Jumps Over 2nd Weekend, Fighter Collects Solid 42 Crore Nett In 2nd Week
Film dropped further on 2nd Friday and collected below par 6 cr nett. On day 10, film sprung a huge surprise by jumping 90% and almost doubled its collection from previous day. Film collected 11 cr nett on 2nd Saturday. Film added solid 13 cr nett on 2nd Sunday. Film crossed 30 cr nett over 2nd weekend. Film remained steady on 2nd Monday and collected 3.25 cr nett with less than 50% drop from 2nd Friday. Film didn’t drop further and collected 3.25 cr nett on 2nd Tuesday followed by 3 cr nett on 2nd Wednesday and 2.75 cr nett on Thursday. Film will cross 42.25 cr nett in 2nd week.
Fighter Collected 151.60 Cr After 93 Cr Weekend Due To Monday Crash
Opening day of the film at box office equals to star power of the film. On this front, Fighter failed miserably. Last year on 25th January, same director and actress scored all time record opening due to presence of superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Same date same actress same director and almost similar genre but Fighter fell short by 60-65%. It means that Hrithik and Deepika failed to create any sense of urgency for audience to watch the film on day one and now content will take over from here onwards.
With only 1.45 lacs ticket sold in national chains for day one, film was always going to struggle for decent opening day number. Film opened to poor 15-20% occupancy and it was expected to improve from evening onwards as next day was big national holiday. Film collected 11.40 cr nett in national chains. Film crossed 24.60 cr nett day one all India and that was way below par.
Fighter opened to glowing reviews all over on day one morning and these reviews translated in big numbers over the weekend. Film scored big on day two as it was national holiday and collected 41.20 cr nett with 66% jump from day one. Film jumped by 80% on day two in national chains.
Film crossed day one number on day three and should collect around 27.60 cr nett with 12% jump from day one but 33% drop from day 2 which was aided by national holiday. Film scored good numbers on Sunday with 30.20 cr nett as it grew by hardly 9% from previous day. Film collected 123.60 cr nett over 4 day weekend.
Such a slim growth meant worrying signs for the film from Monday onwards and that’s what happened. Film collected poor 8.25 cr nett with big crash on Monday which sealed the fate for the film. Film added 7.25 cr nett on day 6 Tuesday, 6.50 cr nett on day 7 Wednesday and 6 cr nett on day 8 Thursday. Film crossed 151.60 cr nett in 8 days.
