All eyes are set on 2024, with Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor starrer film Fighter being the the first big release of the year. The film is directed by Siddharth Anand, post the success of War and Pathaan. Fighter, which released yesterday on January 25 coinciding with Republic Day holiday today.
Fighter Failed To Score Big On Day One Due To Poor Advance Bookings
Opening day of the film at box office equals to star power of the film. On this front, Fighter failed miserably. Last year on 25th January, same director and actress scored all time record opening due to presence of superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Same date same actress same director and almost similar genre but Fighter will fall short by 60-65%. It means that Hrithik and Deepika failed to create any sense of urgency for audience to watch the film on day one and now content will take over from here onwards.
With only 1.45 lacs ticket sold in national chains for day one, film was always going to struggle for decent opening day number. Film opened to poor 15-20% occupancy and it was expected to improve from evening onwards as next day was big national holiday. Film collected 11.40 cr nett in national chains. Film crossed 24.60 cr nett day one all India and that was way below par.
Glowing Reviews Lift Fighter Big On National Holiday
Fighter has opened to glowing reviews all over on day one morning and these reviews will translate in big jumps in numbers over the weekend. Film will score big on day two today as it’s national holiday and as per early trends 36-38 cr nett is minimum number expected. Film jumped by 80% on day two in national chains and now good jump took it to 41.20 cr nett.
Film will cross 65.80 cr nett in two days and film will cross 120 – 125 cr nett over 4 – day weekend and then it will be about hold on Monday. But if film can jump big over the weekend and cross 150 cr nett over weekend, it will be an ideal result though that seems impossible at the moment.
