All eyes are set on 2024, with Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor starrer film Fighter being the the first big release of the year. The film is directed by Siddharth Anand, post the success of War and Pathaan. Fighter, which released today on January 25 coinciding with Republic Day holiday tomorrow.
Fighter Fails To Score Big On Day One Due To Poor Advance Bookings
Opening day of the film at box office equals to star power of the film. On this front, Fighter failed miserably. Last year on 25th January, same director and actress scored all time record opening due to presence of superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Same date same actress same director and almost similar genre but Fighter will fall short by 60-65%. It means that Hrithik and Deepika failed to create any sense of urgency for audience to watch the film on day one and now content will take over from here onwards.
With only 1.45 lacs ticket sold in national chains for day one, film was always going to struggle for decent opening day number. Film opened to poor 15-20% occupancy and it is expected to improve from evening onwards as tomorrow is big national holiday. Film has collected 11.40 cr nett in national chains and which will contribute 55% of all India business. As per early trends, film will struggle to cross 24.60 cr nett day one and that’s less than even 25 cr which was bare minimum target for the film.
Fighter in national chains on day one:
PVR + Inox: 9.10 cr
Cinepolis: 2.30 cr
Total: 11.40 cr nett
Glowing Reviews Might Lift Fighter Over Weekend
Fighter has opened to glowing reviews all over on day one morning and hopefully these reviews will translate in big jumps in numbers over the weekend. Film will score big on day two as it’s national holiday and 40 cr nett is minimum number expected.
It seems that film will cross 115 – 125 cr nett over 4 – day weekend and then it will be about hold on Monday. But if film can jump big over the weekend and cross 150 cr nett over weekend, it will be an ideal result.
