Ranbir Kapoor is making a comeback after long hiatus and Shamshera is one of the most awaited films of the year. This film is crucial for Ranbir Kapoor as well as for YRF who has a rare lean patch at box office with disastrous result of Bunty Aur Babli 2, Jayeshbhai Jordaar & Samrat Prithviraj.
The film is directed by Karan Malhotra who delivered a blockbuster with Agneepath remake and one failure with Brothers, which was the remake of Hollywood film Warrior. Film has received good response to trailer and songs till now but not a single song is blockbuster which is very imperative in today’s post-pandemic scenario. Film is slated to release in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil & Telugu. It will also release with IMAX version.
Today its advances opened amid much fanfare. Sunday is never a great day for advances generally as they pick up post Tuesday but it had a decent start today. Film has sold 7500-7900 tickets on day one across the country. This is nothing sensational but not dismal either. This gives indication of 11-13 cr nett bracket of day one business. But in coming days if this picks up drastically then ideal opening of the film should be in the vicinity of 14-15 cr nett.
Film needs terrific word of mouth in order to breach 125-150 cr nett business which should be bare minimum target for such a high budget film and also to justify brand YRF and Ranbir Kapoor’s stardom.
