Ajay Devgn Starrer Drishyam 2 released on 18th November with good hype but on day one itself, it has surpassed all expectations with 2nd best opening of Hindi film in 2022. Film has created an atmosphere of celebration among trade and exhibitors and disappointment among Bollywood haters. Film has broke every myth and every theory with Monday hold to century figure in week one itself.
Film released in 3300 screens and managed massive 15.38 cr nett on day one which was even higher than Ajay Devgn Starrer Tanhaji (15.10 cr) which released in pre pandemic times. Film got acceptance all over and especially in Maharashtra circuit which was lying low for so long. Film had 2nd biggest opening for Hindi film in 2022.
Film had weekend collection of 64.14 cr nett which is again 2nd biggest weekend of the year for Hindi film. Film was rock solid on weekdays and with almost only 10% drop on every day. Film managed to collect 104.66 cr nett which is again 2nd best of the year beating The Kashmir Files.
In 2nd week film faced competition from new release Bhediya starring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. But as expected, Drishyam 2 held its ground strong on 2nd Friday and lead over new release.
Film collected 39.24 cr nett over 2nd weekend and collected huge 58.82 cr nett in 2nd week. Film has total of 163.47 cr nett in yeo weeks which means it will cross 59 cr nett plus in 2nd week. This is only 43.5 % drop from week one which is super solid hold.
3rd weekend as expected film dominated box office in big way as new releases fizzled out. Film has collected more than combine collection of all new Hindi releases and holdover Hindi releases. Film has collected 32.81 cr nett in 3rd week which is 45% drop from 2nd week.
Film has collected 13.45 cr nett over 4th weekend and 19.40 cr nett in 4th week which is drop of 41% only from 3rd week.
Film faced stiff competition from Avatar 2 finally on 5th Friday and collected 1.07 cr nett. Film jumped big by 88% on Saturday and collected 2.02 cr nett on 5th Saturday. Film jumped again by 26% and collected 2.56 cr nett. Film added further 3.40 cr nett on weekdays in 5th week which was a decent result considering release of Hollywood Biggie.
Film got benefit of flop show of Cirkus and collected 53 lacs nett on 6th Friday. Film jumped big on 6th Saturday by 102% doubling its collections and scored 1.07 cr nett. Film added 1.66 cr nett on Sunday. Film has collected 3.26 cr nett over 6th weekend followed by 3 cr nett on weekdays and has crossed 5.75 cr nett in 6th week which is less than 35% drop from previous week. Film collected more than Friday on all weekdays which is amazing.
Film collected 82 lacs nett on 7th Friday which is higher than 6th Thursday and 40% higher than 6th Friday. Film added 1.34 cr nett on 7th Saturday and 2.15 cr nett on 7th Sunday with massive jump. Film has crossed 4 cr nett over 7th weekend which is higher than 6th weekend. Film added 1.70 cr nett on weekdays in 7th week which means 6 cr nett in 7th week.
Film added 1.95 cr nett over 8th weekend with decent trend followed by 93 lac nett on weekdays. Film crossed 2.84 cr nett in 8th week which is decent number. Film collected 11 lacs nett on 9th Friday and again film jumped by more than 50% on Saturday with 28 lacs nett. Film will cross 75-85 lacs nett over weekend and 1-1.05 cr nett over 9th week. This is phenomenal considering film is available on OTT.
Film has total of 240.53 cr nett after 9th week and it will cross 241 cr nett by end of run, Blockbuster! Thus it has crossed Brahmastra Hindi lifetime number in few days. Also it has crossed 440 cr gross of ‘The Kashmir Files’ and this has become 2nd highest worldwide Hindi grosser of 2022, only behind Brahmastra.
Film has collected 3.5 million dollar in week one in overseas market and now with good 2nd week (1.65 million $,13.40 cr) it stands at 7 million dollar (59.50 cr) after 45 days. Film has 340 cr Worldwide gross.
