EXCLUSIVE: The Great Indian Family Bombs At Box Office With Dismal Under 10 Cr Lifetime

The Great Indian Family, starring Vicky Kaushal and Manushi Chhillar, had a disappointing start at the box office. The film, which released on September 22, 2023, earned only Rs 1.25 crore on its opening day. The film faced tough competition from Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which continued to dominate the ticket windows with Rs 7 crore on its third Friday.

Film failed to grow on day two and collected 1.75 cr. Film added 2 cr net on Sunday with slim growth. Today again film has dropped and will collect around 75 lacs net. Film collected 5 cr net over weekend and will finish under 10 cr net lifetime.

Following are the collections for the film:

Friday: 1.25 cr

Saturday: 1.75 cr

Sunday: 2 cr

Monday: 0.75 cr

Total: 5.75 cr net

The Great Indian Family is a comedy-drama directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, who has previously helmed films like TashanDhoom 3 and Thugs of Hindostan. The film revolves around Bhajan Kumar (Vicky Kaushal), a young man who belongs to a family of priests and singers of religious songs. He feels trapped in his traditional lifestyle and yearns for romance and adventure. His life takes a turn when he discovers the truth about his birth and lineage.

The film also features Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa, Rajesh Sharma and Brijendra Kala in supporting roles. The film marks the debut of Manushi Chhillar, who plays the love interest of Vicky Kaushal. Manushi is a former Miss World who won the crown in 2017.

The film received mixed reviews from the critics and the audience.The film is not expected to show some growth over the weekend due to stiff challenge from Jawan, which has already crossed Rs 500 crore mark in India.

Vicky Kaushal’s Upcoming Films

Vicky Kaushal, who was last seen in Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, which was a hit at the box office, will next be seen in Sam Bahadur, a biopic on Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. The film is directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala.
