Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai Advance Booking: Varun Dhawan Film Crosses 30,000 Tickets In National Chains, More Than Advances Of Sequels Pati Patni Aur Woh 2, De De Pyaar De 2 And Son Of Sardaar 2, Mardaani 3

Varun Dhawan and David Dhawan’s big screen reunion has found early momentum where it matters most, at the ticket counters. With Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai arriving in cinemas on June 5, 2026, the comedy entertainer has closed its national chain advance booking on a notably stronger note than expected, giving the film a healthy launchpad before opening day walk ins take over.

The film, starring Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur, has crossed the 30,000 ticket mark in national chains. That number is especially significant because it is more than double the advance booking of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, which had closed around 13,500 tickets in the same segment.

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai Crosses 30,000 Tickets

The final national chain advance number gives Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai a clear edge among recent Hindi romantic comedies. Earlier tracking had placed the film at around 25,000 tickets by Thursday evening, but the final push helped it move past the 30,000 ticket mark across major national chains including PVR INOX and Cinepolis.

For a comedy film driven by family friendly appeal, this is a solid pre release signal. The advance booking also places the Varun Dhawan starrer ahead of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do by a comfortable margin, strengthening the film’s prospects for a respectable opening day. The real test now shifts to spot bookings and evening growth on Friday, which will decide how far the opening day number can travel.

What The Film Brings To The Table

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is directed by David Dhawan and produced by Ramesh Taurani under Tips Films, with Maximillian Films also associated with the project. The film features Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur in lead roles, while Maniesh Paul, Jimmy Sheirgill, Chunky Panday, Mouni Roy, Kubbra Sait, Ali Asgar, Rajesh Kumar and Rakesh Bedi add to the ensemble.

The film is positioned as a romantic comedy with family confusion, relationship chaos and classic David Dhawan style humour at its centre. Its premise revolves around love, misunderstandings and comic complications, aiming for the broad audience base that has traditionally responded to clean, colourful Hindi entertainers.

Varun Dhawan’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Varun Dhawan was recently seen in the Prime Video series Citadel: Honey Bunny in 2024 opposite Samantha Ruth Prabhu. He also headlined the theatrical action drama Baby John in 2024 and appeared in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari in 2025 with Janhvi Kapoor, a film that underperformed commercially.

In 2026, Varun was part of Border 2, the Anurag Singh directed war drama led by Sunny Deol and featuring Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty. His immediate upcoming theatrical release is Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which brings him back to the comedy space under David Dhawan’s direction.
