Kangana Ranaut faces a challenging phase at the box office. Emergency is her 11th failed film in a row. Check details!

Actress Kangana Ranaut was once known for her strong performances. However, she is currently facing a tough phase at the box office. Her latest film Emergency ended its run with just Rs 22 crore globally, marking her 11th consecutive commercial setback.

Emergency Becomes Kangana’s 11th Consecutive Underwhelmer In A Row

Since debuting in 2006 with Gangster, Kangana quickly rose to fame with films like Fashion, Queen, and Tanu Weds Manu, where her acting skills shone.

However, the past decade has seen several of her films struggle to make an impact. Since 2015, 10 of her films have underperformed at the box office, with some of her biggest disappointments being Tejas, Dhaakad, Thalaivii, and Rangoon. The only exception in this period was Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi (2019), which performed reasonably well.

Her biggest hit, Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015), remains one of her best. After that, her films have not been able to replicate the same box-office success, despite her strong presence in Bollywood.

In Emergency, Kangana took on a dual role, both starring as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and directing the film. The political drama generated much anticipation but ended up with mixed reviews and failed to draw audiences. This added another disappointment to her string of commercial failures.

Kangana Ranaut Speaks On Bollywood’s Obsession With Fair Skin

Even as her films face challenges, Kangana has been outspoken on topics beyond acting. She recently raised concerns about Bollywood’s obsession with fair skin, pointing out the lack of dusky-skinned actresses in the industry.

She shared a post highlighting Monalisa Bhonsle, a 16-year-old girl who went viral for her natural beauty. Kangana questioned why there isn’t more representation of women with darker skin tones and criticised the trend of cosmetic procedures to lighten skin.

What’s Next for Kangana?

Talking about her work front, she has more projects in the pipeline and continues to speak her mind in Bollywood. Her next will be a patriotic film Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata.
