Karan Johar and Guneet Monga’s co-produced action thriller Kill, directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhatt, has made a promising start at the Indian box office. Starring Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, and Tanya Maniktala, and marking the debut of Lakshya, the film earned Rs 1.35 crore on its opening day.

Kill enjoyed a solo release this week in Bollywood, following the postponement of Neeraj Pandey’s Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha due to distributor and exhibitor requests. Meanwhile, the Telugu film Kalki 2898 AD, featuring stars like Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, continues to dominate theatres post its release last week.
Kill Gets A Good Start On Day 1, To Grow Over The Weekend
The film features newcomer Lakshya in the lead role and is notable for its extreme violence, which has restricted its audience in cinema halls. Despite this, being co-produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment has given it a significant platform.
However, the film’s strong start on its opening day indicates potential for substantial growth over the weekend. It reflects growing interest among audiences for this bold new entry in the action genre.
Kill is expected to run solo for the week, with competition arriving next Friday, July 12, in the form of Sudha Kongara’s Sarfira remake Soorarai Pottru, starring Akshay Kumar, and Shankar’s action epic Indian 2, featuring Kamal Haasan.
More About Kill
Kill has garnered attention for its intense storyline set predominantly on a train. Lionsgate Pictures has acquired its distribution rights for North America, where it premiered on over 1000 screens on July 4, coinciding with American Independence Day.
The film has received acclaim during its global festival run, particularly at the Toronto International Film Festival. Plans are also underway to adapt Kill into a Hollywood production, helmed by John Wick director Chad Stahelski and Lionsgate Pictures.
