Main Vaapas Aaunga Wraps Global Run At Rs 94 Crore, Remains Average At Indian Box Office

A slow starter that refused to disappear, Main Vaapas Aaunga has completed its theatrical journey with a worldwide gross of Rs 94 crore. Imtiaz Ali’s film did not open like a front-loaded box office giant, but it steadily found its audience, and that late surge helped it land on a respectable note even as it remained an average performer at the Indian box office.

That final result tells the story of a film that leaned more on staying power than opening-day shock value. Driven by audience appreciation and stronger holds after the first week, Main Vaapas Aaunga managed to turn a modest start into a solid global finish.

Main Vaapas Aaunga Closes With A Solid Global Finish

The film wrapped its run with Rs 60.25 crore nett in India, which translates to roughly Rs 73 crore gross domestically, while overseas markets added Rs 22 crore gross. That takes its worldwide total to Rs 94 crore gross. In India, the film remains an average performer, but its trajectory across the later weeks gave it a far stronger finish than its opening had suggested.

Its week-by-week trend reflects that slow-burn climb. The film collected Rs 11.50 crore in week one, followed by Rs 21.25 crore in week two and Rs 16.25 crore in week three. It then added Rs 7.15 crore in week four, Rs 2.75 crore in week five, and Rs 1.35 crore in week six. Those holds gave Main Vaapas Aaunga genuine endurance in theatres and helped it recover ground in a competitive release environment.

A Love Story That Leaned On Word Of Mouth

Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Main Vaapas Aaunga stars Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari, Vedang Raina, and Naseeruddin Shah. The film released in theatres on June 12, 2026, and its emotional, nostalgia-rooted storytelling appears to have played a key role in building support after release.

IMDb’s description of the film calls it “A story of love, longing and belonging rooted in Partition-era migration.” The platform further describes it as a drama that explores “memory, nostalgia, and emotional ties to home and loved ones, exploring how the past shapes identity and sustains the human spirit across generations.” That emotional pull seems to have translated into the kind of positive word of mouth that kept the film in circulation well beyond its opening frame.

Diljit Dosanjh’S Recent And Upcoming Work

For Diljit Dosanjh, the close of Main Vaapas Aaunga also extends a phase where his theatrical and streaming visibility has remained consistently strong. In 2024, he headlined Amar Singh Chamkila, another Imtiaz Ali directorial that premiered on Netflix, and also featured in Crew. He followed that with Detective Sherdil and Sardaar Ji 3 in 2025, keeping his presence active across formats and markets.

Now, with Main Vaapas Aaunga ending its run as a steady if unspectacular theatrical performer, Diljit remains firmly in the mainstream film conversation. His confirmed 2026 theatrical title Border 2, which features him alongside Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty, ensures that his big-screen momentum is far from over.
