Fawad Khan, a Pakistani actor with a sizable fan base in India, showcased his acting prowess in the critically acclaimed films “Kapoor & Sons” and “Khoobsurat.” After appearing in Ms. Marvel, the actor achieved success outside of India as well. His most recent film, “The Legend of Maula Jatt,” is currently on its way to become one of Pakistan’s most popular movies. The film reportedly earned more than Rs 200 crore worldwide.
The possibility of The Legend of Maula Jatt’s release in India has set rumour mills ablaze. The movie, which is living up to its moniker with a legendary box office run overseas, may arrive in Indian theatres on December 23, Pinkvilla said on Saturday morning. However, it made it clear that no formal notification had been made regarding the situation.
Even nevertheless, a number of Indian media outlets followed suit by speculating on whether and when the film, which is directed by Bilal Lashari, will be released in India. The Express Tribune contacted the movie’s producer, Ammara Hikmat, to get the facts straight. Ammara expressed optimism that the movie would be seen by Indian viewers, but she denied any agreement had been reached for The Legend of Maula Jatt to be shown there.
“We hope that Indian fans get to watch this movie in cinemas as well,” Ammara revealed during a private interview with The Express Tribune. “But right now, there is no such deal in place,” she added.
In its seventh week of release, The Legend of Maula Jatt has earned Rs220 crores ($10 million) worldwide, outperforming other Indian films. Pinkvilla also offered a breakdown of The Legend of Maula Jatt’s box office receipts per country. According to Pinkvilla, the film starring Fawad and Mahira Khan has made a total of Rs87.50 crore ($3.98 million) in Pakistan and Rs132.50 crore ($6 million) in foreign markets. With PKR 73 crores in global box office, Jawani Phir Nhi Aani 2 previously held the title of biggest Pakistani movie. The number has already tripled thanks to The Legend of Maula Jatt, and it keeps rising.
