Project Hail Mary Day 18 Box Office Collection: Ryan Gosling Starrer Storms To Rs 67 Crore In India, Eyes A Rare Rs 100 Crore Finish

Few saw this kind of India run coming for Project Hail Mary, but Ryan Gosling’s sci-fi drama is now writing one of the most impressive Hollywood box office stories of the season. What began as a solid opening has turned into a full-fledged theatrical climb, with the film reaching Rs 67 crore after 18 days and emerging as a rare original Hollywood title with genuine long-run momentum in the market.

The real spark lies in how the film has held. Project Hail Mary collected nearly Rs 12 crore in its third weekend and dropped only 25 per cent from the second weekend, an exceptional trend for a non-franchise import. That kind of consistency points to strong audience approval, and it has turned the film from an early success into a serious Rs 100 crore contender in India.

A Third-Weekend Surge Changes The Box Office Conversation

The current India gross stands at Rs 67 crore after 18 days. Its first extended week brought in Rs 29.50 crore across eight days, followed by Rs 24.25 crore in week two. The third weekend added Rs 2.50 crore on Friday, Rs 4.75 crore on Saturday and Rs 4.65 crore on Sunday, confirming that the film is still drawing crowds with surprising strength.

That trend gives Project Hail Mary a standout profile among recent Hollywood releases in India. Space-driven stories have connected with local audiences before, but usually with the support of an established franchise or a heavily familiar brand. Here, the draw has come from the film itself, and from the steadily growing conversation around Gosling’s central performance. On its current trajectory, the film is heading toward the Rs 75 crore mark and keeping its Rs 100 crore chase very much alive.

Inside The Survival Story Driving Audience Interest

The staying power makes even more sense once you look at the film’s package. Project Hail Mary is a science fiction drama directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, and adapted from Andy Weir’s novel with a screenplay by Drew Goddard. Alongside Gosling, the confirmed cast includes Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung and Milana Vayntrub.

At the center of the story is Ryland Grace, a schoolteacher who wakes up alone aboard a spacecraft with no memory of how he got there. As his memories return, he discovers that the mission is tied directly to Earth’s survival, giving the film both a human emotional core and a high-concept survival hook that has clearly clicked with audiences.

Ryan Gosling’s Recent And Upcoming Work

That response also lands at an important moment in Gosling’s recent career. Before Project Hail Mary, his biggest theatrical outing was Barbie in 2023, where his performance as Ken became a global pop culture flashpoint and helped fuel the film’s blockbuster run. In 2022, he also starred in Netflix’s The Gray Man alongside Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, giving him a major OTT title before returning to the big screen with this space-led drama.

As of April 2026, Project Hail Mary is Gosling’s latest theatrical release, and its India performance has added a fresh layer to his star profile by proving that audiences are turning up for him in original event cinema too. Looking ahead, he has the confirmed theatrical title Star Wars: Starfighter, scheduled for 2027, and he is also attached to the Daniels’ next feature, another major studio-backed film dated for 2027.
