Salman Khan’s Eid release Sikandar had an average start and struggled to gain strong momentum despite the festive boost. The film, which hit cinemas on March 30, performed well in mass circuits on its second day but failed to impress in urban centres and multiplex chains.
Sikandar Gains In Mass Centres But Falls Short Elsewhere
Directed by AR Murugadoss, the action drama earned Rs 30.6 crore net on its opening day. While Day 2 saw better occupancy in B and C centres, metro cities and major multiplexes recorded underwhelming numbers.
Despite mixed reviews, Salman’s loyal fan base ensured Sikandar remained their top Eid choice. However, the film struggled to cross even Rs 65 crore mark by the end of its second day.
Unlike Salman’s previous Eid blockbusters, Sikandar failed to dominate traditionally strong markets. The film did not show significant growth and underperformed in several regions. The mixed audience reception also hurt its chances of capitalising on the Eid holiday rush.
Sikandar India Box Office
Day 1 (Sunday): Rs 30.6 cr net
Day 2 (Monday): Rs 33.36 cr net
Total Two Day Collection: Rs 63.42 cr net
The coming weekdays will be crucial. Stronghold regions could sustain the film, but its limited appeal in metro cities may pose a challenge.
Salman’s Eid releases have always been box office giants, but Sikandar seems to be taking a different route. Whether it picks up pace or continues its slow journey remains to be seen.
