Sky Force Advance Booking: Akshay Kumar Starrer Sells 38,000 Tickets In Top 3 National Chains; Expected To Open Around Rs 8-10 Cr Net

Sky Force has sold 38,000 tickets in top cinema chains till afternoon today. The pre-sales will further increase due to discounted prices.

Akshay Kumar starrer Sky Force is gearing up for a big release tomorrow. The film sees Kumar team up with Veer Pahariya, alongside Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur. It’s a reunion for producers Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, the duo behind hits like Stree, Munjya, and Stree 2

Distributed across India by PVRInox Pictures, Sky Force is aiming for a wide release on approximately 2,800 to 3,000 screens nationwide.

Sky Force Advance Booking Report

Advance bookings kicked off late on Tuesday, initially showing a lukewarm response. However, things picked up significantly once the filmmakers introduced discounted ticket prices. This strategy aims to introduce the film to a broader audience, hoping to generate positive word-of-mouth buzz.

As of Thursday afternoon (3.30 pm), Sky Force had sold around 38,000 tickets in the top three national cinema chains (PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis) for its opening day.

Projections suggest the film will sell approximately 60,000 tickets in advance by the end of the day. It’s important to note that these pre-sales are largely driven by the discounted ticket prices, some as low as Rs 30 to Rs 50. This pricing strategy will need to stabilise over the weekend to accurately gauge the film’s trajectory.

This tactic of discounted tickets isn’t considered a sustainable long-term strategy. Instead, it seems to be a move by the filmmakers to get bums on seats and encourage fast word-of-mouth spread, especially with the Republic Day holiday on 26 January. Industry experts predict Sky Force will earn between £800,000 and £1 million on its opening day. This sets the stage for potentially larger earnings on Saturday and Sunday, coinciding with Republic Day celebrations.

The positive news is that sales are increasing, and early reports from media and industry screenings are extremely encouraging. The hope is that this positive reception will translate into strong box office numbers in the long run.

About The Film

Talking about the film, Sky Force is set against the backdrop of the 1965 Indo-Pak War. The film tells the inspiring story of Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya, a heroic Indian Air Force officer whose bravery left a mark on history.

Directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani, and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Jyoti Deshpande, and Amar Kaushik, the film promises a thrilling blend of action, drama, and romance.

Sky Force has received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and runs for 125 minutes. It is releasing tomorrow, January 24.
