Sookshmadarshini Box Office: Basil Joseph And Nazriya Nazim’s Malayalam Thriller Nears Rs 45 Cr In Two Weeks – Hit Or Flop?

Sookshmadarshini, starring Basil Joseph and Nazriya Nazim, earns Rs 44 crore worldwide in two weeks & becomes a superhit.

Sookshmadarshini has proven to be a box office hit, as it rapidly approaches a remarkable Rs 45 crore in just two weeks since its release. Directed by M C Jithin, the mystery thriller has captivated audiences, with its gripping storyline and star-studded cast.

Starring Basil Joseph and Nazriya Nazim, the film blends family drama with suspense, drawing inspiration from Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic 1954 classic Rear Window.

Sookshmadarshini Earns Rs 44 Cr Worldwide In Two Weeks

Released on November 22, Sookshmadarshini quickly gained momentum and has become one of the most talked-about films in Malayalam cinema.

While the film’s worldwide collections stand at a solid Rs 44 crore, including Rs 25 crore from Indian theatres and Rs 19 crore from international markets, its box office journey is set to face competition from Pushpa 2: The Rule. Despite this, it has already earned the title of “superhit.”

Category Gross Box Office Collections
India Rs 25 cr
Overseas Rs 19 cr
Worldwide Rs 44 cr in two weeks

Will It Maintain The Hold After Pushpa2 Release?

In Kerala, the film has been well-received, grossing around Rs 20 crore by the 13th day of its release. With Sookshmadarshini nearing the Rs 45 crore mark globally, the question arises – can it maintain its momentum, or will the arrival of Pushpa 2 affect its performance?

The movie’s strong showing at the box office speaks volumes about its appeal. In just two weeks, the family thriller has secured a place among the hit films of the year.

However, it cannot be denied that the film could have reached the coveted Rs 50 crore mark if Pushpa 2 hadn’t arrived. The Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna starrer has the potential to dominate screens, leaving Sookshmadarshini’s theatrical run somewhat limited.

Why Is Sookshmadarshini Special?

What makes Sookshmadarshini even more special is that it marks the highly anticipated return of Nazriya Nazim to Malayalam cinema after four years. She plays Priyadarshini, a small-town homemaker who becomes suspicious of her neighbour Manuel, portrayed by Basil Joseph, after his elderly mother mysteriously disappears. As Priyadarshini investigates the case, she unravels shocking secrets, keeping audiences hooked until the very end.

The film’s success proves the growing quality of Malayalam cinema, which continues to produce content-driven films that resonate with audiences. Recent hits like The Great Indian Kitchen and Charlie have shown that Mollywood is making waves with its high-content cinema, and Sookshmadarshini is no exception.
